Dredging Update
Posted on Sep 2nd, 2022

The United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) has advised that we do not need a permit to dredge the lake based upon the plan we submitted. This ruling is good for 5 years and represents a significant milestone for the project. As reported in a prior article, the price estimate is 1.5 million dollars, triple the estimate given to us last year. Garver Engineering, our contractor for managing the project, continues to search for less expensive dredging options. So far, none have emerged.

A contingency plan for funding the project is needed, in case a less expensive dredging option is not found. We are gathering additional information, such as our anticipated operating expenses for 2023, which will be higher based on the increased costs experienced this year. Once we have this information, we will ask our Controller and our Finance Committee to advise us on how we might fund the project. Look for a follow-up report later this fall.
